BILECO emerges National Winner in Dagitab RE Talent Competitions

BILECO’s Gintong Liwanag entries for Song Writing Competition and Kuwentong Dagitab both nailed in the recently concluded Rural Electrification (RE) Talent Competitions dubbed as “Dagitab: A Showcase of Culture and the Arts in the Rural Electrification” as it was adjudged as Champion and Second Place, respectively during the Awarding Ceremony  held in celebration with the 50th Golden Anniversary of the National Electrification Administration (NEA)  on August 6, 2019 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Manila.

NEA held RE Talent Competitions which includes Golden Strokes for Painting Competition, Clicks of Gold for Photography Contest, Himig RE for Songwriting Competition, and Kuwentong Dagitab for the Video Documentary Contest; all of which should highlight the journey of every ECs in the quest for the total electrification for sustainable rural development, and the vital significance of the electrification program in nation building with the strategic partnership of the NEA- ECs- MCOs.

The Song Entry entitled “Gintong Liwanag” that emerged Champion in the national competition was composed by Mr. Allan Joseph Borrinaga, the ISD Manager of BILECO. However, through the collaborative effort of the Federation of Rural Electric Cooperative of Region VIII (FRECOR 8) the words and lyrics of Mr. Borrinaga was given life and music with the help of Mr. Alan Aner, Information officer of Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative (ESAMELCO) and the entire song was then performed by the singers coming from the different ECs in the region including two singers from BILECO.

Meanwhile, BILECO was also awarded as the Second Place and Best in the Visayas for the Gintong Liwanag Kuwentong Dagitab Video Documentary Entry which highlighted the  works and the lives of every committed and dedicated warriors of lights and the impact of the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) to the Mamanwa Tribe in Sitio Palayan, in Barangay Caucab, Almeria.

Not only that, another composition of Mr. Borrinaga entitled TATAK SOLID IN ONE which transpired now as the theme song for FRECOR 8 also champs and won as the First Best Performance during the NGCP-PHILRECA Fellowship Night on August 7, at PICC. It was performed, on the other hand by the FRECOR 8 Golden Voices with the composer itself and with special participation of the PHILAIM and LEXICON of Region VIII.

In an interview with the ISD Manager, he said with teary eyes that he was overjoyed and was not expecting this win, “It was an unexpected win for me and the entire team, but I would like to thank every powerful hand and mind who contributed to make this happen. My congratulations also to FRECOR 8, PHILAIM and LEXICON family who have been instrumental for these achievements. But most of all, to BILECO and my own family for the inspiration”, he stressed.
